What is surface treatment of metal parts manufacturing?

Electroplating
Electroplating which is one of the surface treatment technology that is used to coat a layer thinner metal on the surface of metal, alloy or other materials to improve the products aesthetic and anti-rust etc. In general, we’re commonly used the following electroplating:

Galvanizing
Galvanizing is the largest of all plating varieties, and its take up 1/3 or even 1/2 of all electroplating parts. And it has the advantages of low cost, good corrosion resistance, beautiful appearance and storage etc. It’s widely used in light industry, electromechanical and national defense industries etc.

Tin Plating
Its purpose to wash the corrosion products of human harmless, and easy to brazing. It’s mainly used in food canned products, drinking utensils, tableware and many parts of the electronic industry which need brazing.

Cooper Plating
It’s often used as the middle layer of other coatings to improve the bonding of surface coating and matrix metal. In the power industry, copper wire is also used to replace pure copper wire to reduce the consumption of copper.

Nickel Plating
The application of nickel plating is very wide, which can be used to protect the decorative and function of bicycle, clocks and household appliances, hardware products, automobile and camera etc. Of course, the latter one is mainly used for the repair of easily worn products.

Chromium Plating
Chromium can keep long luster in the atmosphere, and in lye, nitric acid sulfuric acid and many organic acid don’t any reaction. And the chromium plating layer has high hardness and excellent wear resistance and low friction coefficient, so it’s often used in the protective decorative chromium plating to prevent substrate metal rust and beautify the appearance, and it also often used to improve wear resistance of the product or repair wear.

Black finishing
Black finishing of steel surface is also called bluish. Its principle is to rapidly oxidize the surface of steel products to form a dense oxide coating and improve the rust resistance of steel parts.

Parkerising
It is a process of chemical and electrochemical reaction to form phosphate chemical conversion film, which is called phosphatizing film. It’s mainly purpose to provide protection for the base metal and prevent metal from corrosion to some extent; and it’s also used to paint the bottom before painting and improve the adhesion and corrosion resistance of the film. At the same time, it’s also used in the lubrication of metal cooling process.

Spray
Using pressure or electrostatic force to attach paint or power into the surface of workpiece, so as to have anti-corrosion and exterior decoration.

Polishing
Using flexible polishing tools and abrasive particles or other polishing media to modify the surface of the parts. And polishing doesn’t improve the size of workpiece or the geometrical shape precision, but is used for the purpose of getting a smooth surface or specular gloss, and sometimes to remove the gloss.
